On Grid Systems

In these facilities, the photovoltaic systems are connected to the distribution network, so that during the day solar energy can be generated and consumed, and the electrical network acts as a backup in cases where more energy is consumed than the panels can generate. or failing that at night.

In this type of system, when there is no consumption of the energy that is being generated with the solar panels, the surpluses are injected into the electricity grid (Law 20571, also known as the Net Billing Law), allowing customers to receive a payment for each kWh priced on the meter, helping to reduce the electricity bill.

The components of this type of system consider four elements: solar panels, inverters, distribution board and bidirectional meter, which, unlike the traditional meter, can measure both the energy consumed and that generated by the solar panels.

This system will always require the electrical network for your photovoltaic installation to work, so if for any reason the distribution network has cuts, the solar plant will stop working automatically since it depends completely on the network is enabled.

An ongrid system can only work even when the electrical network is down, only if it is configured with an additional element called Battery, whose function is to store energy. Then a concept is added that makes it called Hybrid On-grid System.
